Dalysgrove One Day Event Sun 16 Aug 09
Sponsored by Joe Murray, River St,. Ballinasloe.

A very good day at Dalysgrove for the One Day Event. The weather held up lovely, a bit of rain over the previous couple of days had us worried but the ground was in fairly good order. The fences were well chosen to provide good footing. We are indebted to the army of volunteers that put the show together and it was heartening to get the overwhelmingly positive feedback, particularly from those who traveled great distances and had such a good day at Dalysgrove that they are interested in coming back again.

The day was capped by the usual club post-mortem in Cahill's pub in Ahascragh where tall stories got taller and the stresses of the preparations were washed down.

If anyone wants to provide a bit of feedback it'd be appreciated. Or maybe some of their own pics or stories of the day.

The biggest thanks is to the 130-ish competitors, some traveled on the previous day, more had a very early start but all seemed to be out there for the fun of it - and that's what it's all about.

Dalysgrove Derby - Sunday 28 Jun 09 -

A fairly good day in Dalysgrove, lovely weather for the most part with a few showers later in the day leading to a tightly fought competition for the larger grades. A good scenic environment with a challenging derby course designed by Mr Charles Maudlin was the centre of attention but folks were kept busy with clear round jumping and the ever busy dressage. Ann O'Neill also designed, built and supervised the fun obstacle course with trotting poles, trotting lanes, canter circles, water pouring exercises, one-handed canter, fishing barrels, and rubber mat obstacles among others.

Our gratitude to the committee and all the volunteers that helped to put the show together. For such a small club to have organised two successful shows already this year (as well as a dressage league) shows dedication - however the biggest of them all is yet to come with the One Day Event next month and preparations are already underway for that. In the meantime the twice weekly training sessions are still on the go with often a third impromptu session appearing. So - if you think that there's nothing happening I suggest you check your AIRC membership card because it obviously doesn't say 'Dalysgrove' on it. (Any scent of smugness here is purely on the part of the author and does not represent the official opinion of the club).

Great weekend for Dalysgrove at the AIRC Festival - Stradbally 06-07 Jun 09

Well done to the Dalysgrove members who had a very successful weekend at the festival. The honours go to the Primary Show Jumping team (consisting of Helen Glynn, Rose Burke, John Miland assisted by Lawrence from Donegal Gaeltacht) coming home with the red rosette for first place as well as a beautiful piece of Tipperary crystal. Lawrence's application for full time honorary membership of Dalysgrove is currently being processed !
Further congrats to John Miland who took part in another team and took second place in the primary teams too.
Congratulations for their success in dressage to Donna Lister who came away with both first and second place prizes - Ann O'Neill took fourth place and Leonie Nolan took fifth with Donna Murray taking eighth.
A big congratulations to the Quadrille team of Ann, Sean, Donna, Karen, Emma,  & Lorraine for taking third place with an entertaining display based on a 'wedding' theme. Although everybody was perished at the end of a very wet Saturday they put in a fine performance, particularly for a first attempt, and have made some of the more established teams sit up and take notice. Sean looked particularly fetching as one of the blushing brides but his dress at the end of the event had more in common with a wet T-shirt competition than a holy sacrament. Still, if we can get some of the photos emailed i can put them up and you can judge for yourself :-)
And not to forget Emma and Caolann both in the rosettes in dressage. This brought the club tally to 18.

Western Region EPS Team Qualifier - Hosted by Dalysgrove at Creagh Equestrian Centre

Congratulations to Castle Carraig on winning the qualifier and the best of luck to them in the RDS in August. Further congrats to Donegal Gaeltacht for coming second and the best of luck in the festival and hopefully the West will have a second team in the RDS as we have done for the last couple of years.

Twenty teams took part at Damien Carey's new outdoor arena in Creagh, Ballinasloe. A bright, fresh, mostly sunny day gave the large crowd a perfect environment to watch some good jumping on a challenging course. The majority of the approx eighty competitors with their entourage of grooms, supporters and advisers held their breath towards the end as the jump-off could have gone a number of ways. An exciting finale to a well fought competition. Well done to all the competitors and thanks to all those who gave a hand on the day.                           A few photos and video clips here        NEW PICS UPLOADED Sun 14 Jun
